Crumpled Nothings!

Did absolutely nothing besides laying around watching TV all day yesterday and today. Although I have so much to do like the dirty laundry that's been piling up from last week, and sorting all the junk mail letters and envelopes from my drawers, cleaning up and organizing my closet; also I need to get some new clothes and shoes, but I didn't feel like getting up from my bed at all.

My friends asked me to come to dinner at one of their family members' places and I just didn't want to go because honestly speaking, I get so effin bored its unbelievable. I hate going to dinners where all the men huddle up in one corner of the room and the women on the other; the men talk about the directions they take to work and world politics and the women talk about food prep techniques, handbags and shoes. I know that eventually I will probably host one of these when I am 36 and married and stuff, but right now its just REALLY boring. Dallas - I am done with your suburbanish amplification.

Hmph!

So what's up with you guys?

I had to start that way with the title of this post. The song was stuck in my head and what can I say, I wanted you guys to feel the same way (hopefully) as you start reading this post.

I was wilfing around since I can't get any sleep and I so I thought that since I got my PTO approved for the holiday season, as I always do, I should look at flight deals and vacation packages to NYC. Now I know my readers are thinking to themselves "Oh God! Here he goes talking about New York again." Sorry. Can't help it. Deal with it. I won't rest till I am living there one day. But anyhoos, so I am searching for deals, and I come across this daily photo blog of the city by "Epicurious Eliane".

The natural pictures that she's taken are just so great, I felt I should post about it. Tams/Pari - she takes random pictures like you guys do, so I know you guys would really like it a lot; so would Priti D. I suggest give the blog a read or if you just want to see the amazing pictures, you can visit her Flickr profile. I am sure there's tons of other daily photo blogs about NYC, but this one reminded me of our trip earlier this year, and I thought I should share it with you guys. It sure is an addition to my LINKS on this blog.

Enjoy.

but this...this Ducati Monster SR2 naked bike is what I will own someday. It's sleek and sexy looks with a vintage touch makes it so classy, so desirable. Look at it, could you blame me?

There's only 2 reasons why I may have not posted in the past month:

1. Too much going on; and
2. Reverse that!

Here's the month in recap -

Labor Day Weekend: Or as I like to call it "Desi Weekend". Seriously, I did everything desi. Karishma was in town. Spent a couple of days with her. Her friends and I went to the Simply Sonu concert which was just mind blowing. Its old news that this guy has amazing vocals but every time you listen to him sing, especially LIVE, then that sense is renewed again. I truly had a blast. Karishma and I eventually ended up from the nose-bleed right on the floor seats (which happens in every desi concert, I know!). Since his show was the same throughout his tour, many have recorded bits of the concert. Here's one of those videos - I particularly like the part (@ 2:40) where he does a parody of songs from the Golden Era mixed in with the title song of Main Hoon Na:

We also went to watch Chak De India, which was a good film. I seldom watch hindi movies, and normally go for the ones I think I may like, which is like 1 movie every 4 - 6 months. This one though, was a good one. Absolutely no songs and King Khan's acting was toned down than his usual mega-drama roles. The movie focused on one thing and one thing only - The Indian Women's hockey team! I am not in the mood of writing reviews right now, but if you haven't already watched this movie, then it's definitely a good rent.

Kakes, thanks for the fun times.

Next Weekend: Took a trip to Houston. Nothing much there really. Just went to a joint called "The Easy Credit Clothing Co". It sounds like a department store huh? Think again. It was a bar with live music playing and the place looked like an abandoned fashion warehouse with clothes on shelves and umbrellas hanging upside-down from the ceiling. Unique idea.

The Weekend After: Tams and Pari came down from Minneapolis to spend time with my cousin who came from Dubai that same weekend. I had a lot of things planned to do but none of them got done. Reason behind that is all my cousin wanted to do was shop, shop and shop more. I had taken about a week off from work hoping to go do all the tourist-y things in Dallas, some places that I had myself never been to, and still haven't in the 8 years that I have lived here. Oh well. It was an interesting week though. I hadn't seen my cousin since the last time I came from Dubai, which was back in 1999. So we had a LOT of catching up to do, and then some. :)
We stayed at another cousin's place that week. Went to Al-Amir restaurant, smoked some hookah, did some dancing, ate at Chaat Cafe, ate at Luna De Noche, and that's about all I have to say about that. I hope Paresh and Tams had a good time here. I think they did.

Rest of the month, its just been work, work and more work.

Oh hey, season two of Heroes is back on, and the new season of The Office as well. That's about all I watch on TV right now. I don't think there's any other good shows this Fall. I hope NBC brings back Studio 60, but doubt that's gonna happen.

There's something else I want to REALLY post about, but it's not the right time just yet. Maybe in the next week or so..you will find out.
