I have been on a hiatus for the last couple of months. Google still has me on Page One, but then again, who cares? This blog isn't meant for the masses, even though public. Nevertheless, here I am - back with some more notes...notes about what I've been up to in the last month and a half or so...crumpled nothings if you will.
Let's start with my birthday bash. Hold up. The "bash" part happened accidentally for the most part, although maybe somewhat intentional - but I'm glad it did - for reasons I'll mention a few lines later.
I didn't actually know what I wanted to do for my birthday, but I wanted to go out and actually DO something, whatever it could be. I haven't really celebrated my birthday in the last few years other than having dinner out. This time around though, I wanted to PARTY! So, a week before the birthday weekend, one of my co-workers happened to mention of The Spazmatics being in Fort Worth.
The Spazmatics are a band, who play 80s cover music while being dressed really geeky. Their presentation of the songs is down right hilarious. (Priti D - You would REALLY love them) So I email Jas about it, and lo and behold, she made it happen. She invited a few of her friends, most of whom I'd never met before, but heard of. A couple of her friends were gonna be there anyway, and so under the label "Sachin's Bday Bash", we had a blast. We watched them play, and while all I wanted to do was have a couple of beers and enjoy with the NEW friends I had made, I didn't know I was gonna get more that what I had bargained for. Why you ask? Well, can't post it here...Call me...maybe I'll tell you.
Anyhoos, On Saturday, Jas & Shawn threw a BBQ pool party at their place and the label was still "Sachin's Bday Bash". Of course, all my partners-in-crime showed up the next day. We had a really chill afternoon. Swimming, chatting, grilling hot dogs, listening to music and reminiscing the night before. In the evening we decided to go to a club in downtown, and we got all ready for it and headed out at around 9pm. Once we got there though, we discovered the club had closed down, which sucked. So we ended up at one of our friends place instead and just played cards and had more drinks and played drinking games. RELAX. Settle down. No one got drunk.
So props to Jas for throwing me such a cool bash. You rock! And of course, Neal, Amar, Cookie, Daniel - THANK YOU.
But Wait. We aren't done here. Oh no. It's only Sunday. I had lunch scheduled with my cousin at her place. We just wanted to chill and have lunch together for my birthday. Little did I know though, that she'd planned for my friends to be there when I got there. It was a good surprise. I really wasn't expecting it. So yeah, good birthday weekend. Vini - Thanks for the surprise. I got some good stuff too - Malcolm Gladwell's "The Tipping Point", LeGault's "Th!nk", Express graphic tee (Thx Sabeen).
Most of July has been just about work, and any time I found during the weeknights to get online and blog, well, I just facebooked. Oh stop. What? It is effin addictive. Being anti-facebook as I was, I am now a facebook junkie. During the weekends I was out with friends at Ivy for the most part. There was an Indepen'DANCE' party on July 4th weekend, and then there was a Dance for the Cure party, which was held in support for Breast Cancer research...so busy there. Plus in between, I would support their Gidha parties at Manhatten. Geez, I feel like I am giving reasons for not posting. Ha!
Oh then there was Batman. Daynm! That was some movie. Heath's rendition of The Joker was just resplendent. This was probably the best movie of this year, in the ACTION criteria. I will leave it up to Paresh to write up a review. I am pretty sure I will agree with his write-up. The other action movie I am waiting for this year is Bond. Apparently, he has gone "rogue" according to M in the preview. That's an interesting angle. Sorta reminds me of...ummm...Bourne?! But I like Craig as Bond, and as an actor, so of course...looking forward to it.
I had a lot more to write, but I think I am done here. I will post more frequently.
