I had to work late Friday evening. So I really needed something to start the weekend off in a good swing. So when a friend suggested that since it's thoroughbred season, we go watch the horses run. I was game for that. I really love horses, but never watched live horse races before. So that evening we met up at Lone Star Park in Grand Prairie. It wasn't that busy really. In fact I got there pretty late. The 8th race was about to start out of a total 10 races. I paid general admission, which got right in front of the finish line. I now wonder why folks pay higher to sit in the building or booths; The fun seems to be down where I was. But then again, what do I know? :)

I also wonder why I have never watched Stallions race in Dubai. To watch those beasts run would have been really cool.
On Saturday, we went to celebrate Mursil's birthday at Lake Lavon picnic area. We slapped some juicy burgers, chicken and hot dogs on the grill and had a blast. One of my friends had his cricket kit in the car, so I played, and let me tell you - I am a still a good bowler! It's a good feeling especially when I haven't played for years. On that note, everyone is speaking of these IPL matches, and they're all over City 101.6 as well as local pseudo-desi radio stations here in Dallas. It seems I am the only one that hasn't been following those. Tell me, am I missing out? Should I be a fan of the Kolkata Tigers? Looks like everyone I know is - maybe SRK has something to do with that!
Sunday was spent just chilling at home. Sabeen and Mursil stayed over. Most of my time went in burning physician recruitment DVDs for work, but as long as I had my feet up on the chase in front of the TV, I was fine.
Plans tonight are to go home and watch The Kite Runner.

Nothing much going on really. This week and the week before have just been to and from work with almost nothing in between, besides the TV shows and sleep.
I did end up going shopping on Sunday and got myself some new stuff. I used KK's Express gift card which helped my astronomical purchase of buying a pair of pants, a dress shirt, and 2 polos from there. Don't judge me. I go shopping once in maybe 2 - 3 months, so it's justified, at least to me.
I have also been in the market for a pair of white canvas shoes to wear casually, instead of the Cole Haan's I shouldn't be wearing like I do. Anyhoos, I couldn't find the right kind anywhere, and if I did, they were effin pricey. So while browsing the shoes at Nordstrom Rack, it caught my eye. There it was. The kind I wanted, the kind I was looking for. I had never worn Diesel shoes before, but this was a super purchase. I got it for just $32 bucks after the sale price. I saw some other cool Diesel wear. I like some of their jeans and tees - will look into it.

I picked up a pair of CK sun-glasses too - yes, the marked down kind. Whatever you tell me, I just cannot spend anything over 30 bucks for a pair of shades. I don't care which celebrity wore 'em coz he's not going to help me find it when I lose 'em or fix it if I break 'em.
I used to wear watches a long time ago. After carrying cell phones, who really needs one right? So I've never worn a watch for ages now, and am thinking of getting one. Maybe when I go to NYC, I'll get one or two from there.
Plans in near-future: thinking about going to Chicago again this memorial weekend.

UK based DJ Xtreme (Nikesh Parmar) is probably one of the few DJ's that understands what mixing is all about. Anyone (including myself), can slap a couple of tracks and make it sound like what remixes and mashups, well, would sound today. But a little more effort and a little more work can produce insane mixes.
Like this one that he put together. It's called the 'The Aftermath "Fire" Megamix' and includes artists that are with and have been with the Aftermath Label. Dr. Dre, Knoc-Turn'Al, Eminem, Busta Rhymes, Eve, The Game and 50 Cent. The tracks laced are verses from "Bad Intentions", "Touch It", "Tambourine", "Encore", "Let's Ride", and "Outta Control".
This is a really good mix.
