Crumpled Nothings!

Epsom Salt i.e.

Suffering from...no wait! Irritated from a swollen left foot. I guess one of my pair of shoes are a just a little tight on my feet, and I had worn it all weekend long. I remember there was a point in the weekend I was jumping around and simply being goofy to make Ahmed laugh hysterically (He's the cute little baby 3 posts down). I probably shouldn't have done that which is why I have a swollen foot.

But you know what? When a cute little 8 month old baby laughs so hard that he's loud at first and then what sounds like his voice is fading away while he continues laughing, and then starts all over again - Now THAT makes this totally worth it. I would definitely do it again, only this time with comfy shoes.

Work has been piling up on me recently. I constantly find myself lining up tasks and projects like an air traffic controller, with twice the amount of planes that I can handle; However I am unperturbed and put a smile on my face and work with what I have to get things done...at least that's my nature. Ok, so maybe a heavy part of the reason is that I am trying to wrap things up before I leave for Chicago next week. Yup, booked a ticket and going to Chi-town again this year for Memorial Weekend. I am really looking forward to it. I will be hanging out with a couple of friends, so Tams and Pari - will miss you guys, although you guys do need to take a trip somewhere. Now, the only thing is since I booked the ticket on priceline, which got me an EXCELLENT deal. The only thing is I have to catch a 6:55 AM flight. That part sucks, but I can deal with it.

As usual, I will be taking a LOT of pictures, so will post them when I get back, or while I am there, but some, I may hide ;)

I was working during the day today trying to get some stuff out of the way, but in the evening hung out at my cousin's place and visited Raunak and Aarzoo. They were so excited to see me, as I was seeing them. Man, they grow up fast. I had dinner with them and we were watching Zee Cine Awards, which really was a bunch of crap. Seriously! I mean, you tell me - who would you pick for the Best Actor Award from the following?

Shahrukh Khan for Om Shanti Om
Abhishek Bachchan for Guru
Akshay Kumar for Namaste London
Shahid Kapoor for Jab We Met
Amitabh Bachchan for Cheeni Kum
Shahrukh Khan for Chak De! India

Shahrukh got it for Chak De! India. Look, I like the movie. I like the story. I liked his acting. It really was good. Having said that, it was nothing compared to Abhishek Bachchan as Gurukant Desai. Aby Jr nailed that part. He should have gotten the award for it. So I looked up to see what the Oscar equivalent Filmfare Awards decided who the Best Actor is. Surely, they are fair. Even their tag line for the show read "53rd Fair One Filmfare Awards". But apparently SRK is their baby as well. He got the award for CDI, and Aby Jr ignored. Hell, even Akshay Kumar who gave 5 back to back comedy hits in 2007 was left out because the category itself was dropped. What's weird is that comedy was the 'Toast of the Year' in the 2007 show. I guess that ends my Bollywood rant.

Alright, think I 'm done with this post. See you guys soon.

This one has been long pending. Let me tell you something. My day begins with the never-ending drive to work, although not in rush hour since I have to get to work at 10 AM (jealous? You should be!) My day starts with what's pending this week and juggle between what's due in the coming days and what's been past due that may have not been worked on.

Looking at 3 monitors side-by-side, although matrix-y is cool, although what's not is the constant eye rubbing I have to do from the glare and the constant staring doesn't help that either. But all that's fine. I have my good times too - My team and I talk about random stuff, small chitter-chatter, some banter, and then we get back to work.

At around 4-5PM, I am simply dragging. It's to the point where I am thinking to myself "Would it be that bad for me to be resting in that hammock by the tropical beach in those Corona ads - of course, with the Corona?" No! Then by 7PM, I am done, and the commute back home is a long stretch of 25.6 miles. So of course, it's always nice to know I am driving an Accord. But forget that, I am tired. I don't want to do anything, other that changing into my PJs, getting on my bed and turning the TV on.

My entire day goes by like that, well, most of the times. But here's the best part. I forget about everything. The tiredness goes away. The complaining goes away. I feel great with a sudden burst of happiness. Know why? That's because, folks, I come home to this:

[UPDATE: THE BURGER EFFIN SUCKED!!]

....and then to watch Iron Man.

Guess what's new in my world? Golf! A couple of my team members play golf regularly and they've been talking about it for the past week. So, when I mentioned that I had never picked up a club before, they suggested we go to the driving range and get me started. Quite honestly, at first I was thinking to myself "Sure why not?" I'll give this a try too, you know, just for fun.

But now, I feel like addiction will be taking over. That's because at the range yesterday, I was making contact with the ball every time I took a swing, except the ball was veering off to the right, and I couldn't get my swing action right. The reason I say I am going to be addicted now, is because I want to perfect that swing action as much as I can. I want to go shoot balls at the range a couple or so days a week. See, that's when one thing will lead to another, and then months later, I will want to go to the course... Plus all we've been talking about at work is golf, golf, and more golf - and that's good. It is encouraging.

Anyway, I was at TopGolf where the balls are tagged with a RFID, and then when you swing at the ball, it records your range, and score. It's pretty nifty. Additionally, I see why the guys get so used to it - you just chill have a couple of drinks and get your own time. I am starting to like it. But now, I am just sore.

Tams emailed me this video yesterday and after watching it, I just had to post it. This is from the show Britain's Got Talent, where Amanda Holden, Simon Cowell and Piers Morgan judge the show (and you thought American Idol was harsh?!).

Alright so here's the video:

As Amanda said, "Bloody Brilliant".

One thing this makes me think about though, is that if the above would have been performed here in the US on the franchised America's Got Talent, where Piers is also one of the judges, it wouldn't have got the same response as it did in Britain. The reason for that is, there is so much awareness in UK of desi music and desi rhythms in general. Over here in the States, that's probably only in the REALLY big cities, like NYC or Chicago. I live in Dallas, and although there are over 60K desis here, the concentration is still not that heavy for the general non-desi crowd to take notice of the culture. Oh well - that's just an observation. But back to the performance, did you like it or what?
